About 3TU.Datacentrum
In October 2007 the executive Committee from the 3TU federation gave her approval for establishing 3TU.Datacentrum.
3TU.Datacentrum builds on products and experiences from the SURF-project DARELUX (Data Archiving River Environment LUXemburg). This has been important pioneering work in the area of digital sustainability in relation to technical-scientific data.
3TU.Datacentum wants to be a data portal: a portal to valuable data sets from completed technical and scientific research. For data that is being worked on a data lab can be set up.
Initially 3TU.Datacentrum focuses on the following areas:
- all technical fields
- earth / climate / environment
- models, software (ICT)

Future
DANS has the ambition2 to develop as a discipline independent data organization. Conversations about cooperation with other university libraries and 3TU.Datacentrum are ongoing. Working together has great advantages. If there is one data portal, researchers no longer need to wonder where to turn to if they want to deposit their data. Through this main entrance people can be diverted to discipline-related experts.
